One Haworth Center

Location: Portage, MI

Contract: Design/Build

OVERVIEW

Project Summary

The Haworth project was awarded through a lump sum design/build bidding process involving prequalified bidders, with a fixed project duration of two years and no price escalation. It entailed the complete removal of the existing building facade, the addition of an atrium, and the construction of a new energy center. All mechanical systems were slated for replacement to achieve LEED Gold certification. The project spanned slightly over 300,000 square feet, divided into two distinct phases.

One of the primary challenges was managing the installation of a completely new system for both phases simultaneously, while also maintaining existing building systems for phase 2. Additionally, the incorporation of a large glass atrium added complexity to the project’s execution.
